Common questions
Getting started
- How do I start with Vael?
- Connect a bank account from the dashboard or paste a month of numbers in CSV, PDF, or plain text. Most first reads complete in under a minute.
- What is included in the free tier?
- One connected account or a pasted ledger, your real runway, basic leak detection, and up to eight analyses a month. No card required.
- Do I need to connect a real bank account?
- No. You can paste a month of numbers to start. Connecting a live account gives you automatic updates, but pasting works just as well for the first read.
- How long does the first analysis take?
- Most reads finish in under a minute. A complex or messy ledger with unusual vendor names can take a little longer as the model works through the ambiguities.
Connecting accounts
- Which banks and providers does Vael connect to?
- Vael connects to major US banks, card providers, and invoicing tools through trusted read-only integrations. New providers are added regularly.
- Is the connection read-only?
- Yes, always. Vael can read your data but cannot move money, initiate payments, or make any changes to your accounts.
- My bank is not listed. What do I do?
- Export a CSV or PDF from your bank and paste it into Vael. The model reads it the same way as a live connection. You get the same runway, leaks, and next move.
Reading your runway
- How does Vael calculate my runway?
- Cash balance divided by net monthly burn, recomputed in code from your actual data. The model reads and organizes the ledger; the arithmetic is checked separately so the headline number is not a guess.
- My runway number looks off. What should I check?
- Check which accounts are connected and the date range in settings. A large one-off charge, a legal bill or a security deposit, can inflate burn if it is being counted as recurring. You can mark it as a one-off.
- What is the difference between net burn and gross burn?
- Gross burn is everything you spend. Net burn subtracts revenue. Vael shows you both and tells you what is moving each number, in plain language.
- How often does my runway update?
- Live connections refresh automatically. Pasted ledgers update when you paste new data or manually re-run the read from your dashboard.
Billing and plans
- What does the free plan include?
- One connected account or pasted ledger, your real runway, basic leak detection, and up to eight analyses a month. No card, no trial clock.
- What does the Operator plan add?
- All accounts, full leak detection with reasons, ranked cut suggestions showing runway gained, month-over-month anomaly alerts, and CSV or PDF export. 49 dollars a month.
- Can I cancel at any time?
- Yes. No lock-in, no cancellation fee. You can export your data from settings before you go, and it is yours.
Security and data
- How is my financial data protected?
- Connections are read-only and encrypted in transit and at rest. All stored data uses industry-standard encryption. See the Security page for the full details.
- Is my data used to train models?
- No. Your financial data is used only to produce your analysis. It is never used to train shared models, sold, or shared with third parties.
- What happens to my data if I close my account?
- You can export everything from settings at any time. After you delete your account, your data is purged within 30 days.
